East Indy Trailblazers was founded in 2008 by Mark Lehman...he wanted a place for his daughter to be able to play soccer at a high school level without compromising her home school education experience. Her passion for the game resulted in a call to the local home school community and a team was formed. It was a rough start, with only half of the students having previous soccer experience, but with the the help of the experienced players and the dedication of coach Lehman, homeschool varsity soccer arrived in the Hancock/eastern Marion county area.
Coach Lehman was joined by JV coach Randy Kemerly, who took over club leadership in 2012 and initiated the next chapter in Trailblazer history. Coach Kemerly led the club through several years of growth and brought additional coaches on board: JV coach Chris Grunden and former player Alli (Huang) Lohman. The club started its Girls Varsity team, which placed 2nd in the state. In 2015 and 2016, the Trailblazers joined ranks with fellow homeschool soccer club Oak Forest Fury to continue offering a competitive varsity soccer experience for both clubs' players. At the end of the 2016 season, both coach Kemerly and Fury coach Rick Sucietto retired, handing the reins to Girls Varsity/JV coach Chris Grunden. Now in its 13th year, the club boasts back-to-back state championships, 1 national championship, and several top 3 finishes. But more than titles and trophies, we are extremely proud of the culture of sportsmanship and lifelong relationships that are fostered within our soccer family. |
